Duty Sailor's Role
It is important that you arrive early on the day of your duty. Plan for a long day at the club on this occasion. Your role is to generally oversee the day's events.
It will not be possible for you to race on this day, however you will be rewarded average points for the races missed as a result of your service as duty sailor.
Early Morning
-
Put up the tarp for shade on Murray's Mound.
-
Sweep (or blow) out the clubhouse and ensure that it is ready for the day’s events.
-
See that the club’s safety boat is launched and ready for use. Find a helper and put the orange inflatable covers over the buoys.
-
Ensure that the starting lights and horn are in place.
Racing
-
Act as rescue boat assistant.
-
You will need to be on the rescue boat during racing, assisting the rescue boat vessel master, and be dressed and ready to enter the water at all times to render assistance.
Late Afternoon
-
Remove the orange inflatable covers from the buoys and ensure that the safety boat is put away.
-
The tarp needs to be taken down and put away.
-
All rubbish needs to be emptied into a metal drum and placed outside the gates to the sailing club. Recycling to be bagged and placed over the fence in the TEEC grounds.
-
Organise for the showers to be hosed out etc.
-
Secure all the clubs property before departure.
If you are unable to do your duty. It is your responsibility to arrange for a swap with someone else on the roster.
